The Hurricanes still have an outside chance of claiming the inaugural Super Rugby Aotearoa title after overcoming the Chiefs 31-18 in Wellington last night.

They are now just one point behind the Blues and three points out of the Crusaders, but they must hope that the Highlanders cause an upset this afternoon against the Crusaders to give them an opportunity of winning it next week.

Tries from Dane Coles, Kobus van Wyk and Billy Proctor sealed the win for the Hurricanes.

For the Chiefs, Warren Gatland has endured a poor first season in charge of the two-time Super Rugby champions, despite a positive start.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders will take on the Highlanders at 3.35pm today.
