Hundreds flock to My Suva Park to celebrate Fiji Day

People from all walks of life flocked to My Suva Park today to celebrate Independence Day with their families and friends and enjoy the sunshine and good weather the capital city offered.

Nanise Volau and her family members gathered around a tanoa drinking kava and enjoyed the breeze and sunshine with lots of food.

Volau told fijivillage News that today marks a very special day for all Fijians as the country marks its 54th year of independence.

She says today also marks a day of healing and restoration for all the things Fiji has been through as a country.

Volau says she knows the trials and tribulations that has Fiji endured to be where it is today and she is thankful to all those who have contributed towards shaping our country.

She highlighted that the celebrations will not just end at the Park as she plans to go and have a few more bowls of grog at home with families and friends.
