Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has called on businesspeople to seriously look at certain policies being proposed by some political parties.

National Federation Party Leader, Doctor Biman Prasad has announced that NFP will reduce VAT from 15 to 10 percent if it forms the next government.

While speaking at the launch of the 2014 Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards, Sayed-Khaiyum has questioned how the party will get the income it loses from the VAT reduction.

Sayed-Khaiyum also said that people should also focus on consistency of policies.

Meanwhile NFP Leader, Doctor Biman Prasad said they have done their calculations and their aim is to reduce VAT from 15 to 10 percent which he says will result in people buying more items.

When questioned on whether NFP will increase corporate or personal taxes, Doctor Prasad said that he cannot say anything on that as they have to assess the Auditor General’s reports and see how government revenue has been utilised.
