High Court Judge does not accept guilty plea of alleged murderer

High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar has decided not to accept the guilty plea of a man who allegedly murdered his wife.

The alleged incident happened in Nasinu on the 29th of December last year after a heated argument between the couple.

Fatai Peni who is charged with one count of murder had pleaded guilty today.

However, when questioned by Justice Goundar, Peni revealed he had not discussed his guilty plea with his lawyer.

Peni has been given the opportunity to discuss his guilty plea with his lawyer.

He is further remanded in custody.

The matter has been adjourned to the 14th of July.
