Heavy rain warning remains in place for Western half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands

A heavy rain warning remains in place for the western half of Viti Levu which is from Sigatoka to Rakiraki, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands and the Southern Lau Group.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says that an active trough of low pressure approaches the country from the west and is expected to affect the country later today.

People can expect rain, heavy at times and thunderstorms.

Localized heavy rainfall can lead to the flooding of low lying areas.

Meanwhile, the Weather Office has issued a flash flood warning for low lying areas and areas nearby of Lomawai, Maro and Kabisi in Sigatoka and the low lying areas of Ba.

A flood alert remains in place for the low lying areas and areas adjacent to and downstream of Navala in Ba, Vatukacevaceva Station in Ra upto Rakiraki Town Centre and Nasivi in Tavua.
