Heavy rain warning now in force for Fiji

People should be prepared for a rainy long weekend as a heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain will affect the country until Sunday.

They say a strong wind warning remains in force for the coastal land areas of Eastern and Southern parts of Viti Levu, including Sigatoka to Coral Coast to Navua to Suva to Korovou to Rakiraki, Southern Bua and Cakaudrove province, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

The Weather Office says people should expect occasional rain, heavy at times and a few thunderstorms over most places.

They say isolated heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas.
