Heavy rain warning in force for the whole of Fiji over Easter

Please stay safe over the Easter holiday as a heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain is affecting the country.

People living in Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands can expect periods of rain, which may be heavy at times, and few thunderstorms.

They say rain is expected to ease to showers later tomorrow.

People living in other parts of the country can expect occasional rain, which may be heavy at times and few thunderstorms with rain becoming more frequent from tomorrow.

The Weather Office says there can also be flash flooding of some low-lying informal settlements and communities, businesses and Irish Crossings which may lead to traffic disruptions.

People can also expect surface flooding on streets particularly in urban areas with poor drainage systems, and reduced visibility.
