Heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas

People can expect a lot of rain today into tomorrow as a weak trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the Eastern parts of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says this may cause localised heavy falls which may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.

They say occasional showers, heavy at times with isolated thunderstorms over Eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu Coastal areas from Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori up to Tailevu North and interior parts of Ra, Serua/Namosi, Tailevu/Naitasiri, Eastern and interior parts of Vanua Levu and Taveuni, Cakaudrove and Southern Bua province including Namuka-Dogotuki areas, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

They also says that elsewhere, cloudy periods with brief showers can be experienced with afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

This is expected to continue enhancing the Northeasterly wind flow over the Fiji group.

Meanwhile, another trough of low pressure is expected to approach the group from the West on Tuesday and will bring about rain and thunderstorms over most parts of the group.
