Heavy Rain Alert for Eastern half of Viti Levu, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua and nearby smaller islands

Heavy Rain Alert for Eastern half of Viti Levu, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua and nearby smaller islands

A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the Eastern half of Viti Levu from Serua/Namosi through Navua to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri and Ra, Cakaudrove and Southern Bua, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the Eastern parts of Fiji with rain expected to gradually ease from later tomorrow.

They say associated cloud, showers and rain are expected to affect parts of the group for the next few days which will bring occasional rain heavy at times and a few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood prone areas.

Possible Impacts:

- Wet roads and reduce visibility

- Flash flooding of some low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses and Irish crossing leading to disruption to traffic flow.

- Surface flooding expected on streets particularly in urban areas with poor drainage system
