Heavy Rain Alert continues for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti

Heavy Rain Alert previously in force for the rest of Fiji now cancelled

A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, while a Heavy Rain Alert previously in force for the rest of Fiji has now been cancelled.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure remains slow-moving over the country and is expected to gradually drift east of Fiji bringing with it associated with clouds and showers, which are expected to affect the eastern and northern parts of Fiji until Wednesday.

People are urged to remain vigilant, as flash flooding in flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses, and river crossings may result in traffic disruptions.

The Weather Office says slippery road surfaces may lead to hazardous driving conditions, an increased risk of accidents, and travel delays, particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
