Starting from tomorrow, members of the public in the Central Division will have to utilize their health centers as the General Outpatient Department at the CWM Hospital has closed down.
This will see the Health centers extending their hours to meet the demand.
Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma had earlier confirmed to Fijivillage that the health ministry has decided to close down the General Outpatient Department at CWM Hospital from this year as the hospital was never intended to treat minor coughs and flu.
Dr Sharma said Nufield Clinic, Samabula Health Centre and Lami will be open from 6am to 10 pm from Mondays to Fridays.
On Sundays and public holidays the health centers will be open from 6am to 4pm.
Dr Sharma also people can be treated for minor coughs and flu at the Health Centers as these health centers will be up to date and overnight medication will also be available.
Sharma said CWM Hospital will now focus on Accident and Emergency cases, heart attack cases, trauma, road accidents and injuries referred from the health centers.
