MOH wants to run the children’s COVID vaccination with the normal vax program

Health Ministry is keeping a closer watch on COVID variants that is undermining our vaccination attraction – Dr Fong
Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr James Fong

The Ministry for Health is keeping a closer watch on the COVID-19 variant XXB and another of the Omicron variant that is undermining our vaccination attraction.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr James Fong says this particular variant has a bad effect on sick people.

He says it looks like he will have to still maintain the visiting hours restriction at hospitals and the protection programs that they have for particularly ill people.

Speaking on the children’s vaccination program, Dr Fong says they want to incorporate the COVID vaccination with the normal routine vaccination plan.

He says a team is currently in the Lau Group going through all the schools conducting the normal vaccination programs together with COVID-19 vaccination.

Dr Fong says they have a lot more cold-chain capabilities spread out around the country, and some vaccines are coming from the American donation, and he recently signed off for the Australian government to supply.
