Health Ministry deals with Leptospirosis and Hepatitis outbreak
The Health Ministry has been able to take control of the situation in Ba where 23 cases of Leptospirosis and 12 cases of Hepatitis have been reported.

Divisional Health Inspector Western Rakesh Kumar said they are still monitoring the situation.

Due to this a private water dam has been closed after health officials found that the water in the dam contains bacteria.

Kumar said over the past few days a number of sick people were going to health centers with similar symptoms.

According to Kumar the dam was also accessible to animals.

He added people were using untreated water source for over 50 years.

Advisory Councilor of Nukuloa and Tabataba in Ba, Arun Sharma said the closure of the dam will affect more than 2,500 residents in the nine settlements.

However, Sharma said clean water is now being supplied to the affected households.

According to Sharma it’s a huge problem.
