Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says medical staff must address patients with respect.

He made this comment while opening the midterm review meeting for the improvement of the health services project in Vatuwaqa today.

Dr Waqainabete says medical staff should resort to calling patients madam or sir.

He says this is a policy that he strictly adheres to and will continue to do so.

Dr Waqainabete adds that we can have the best of facilities, the best doctors and nurses working and the best technology but at the end of the day its very important to keep things simple.

Dr Waqainabete says we have been successful in our fight against COVID-19 as we had kept it very simple and were very strategic.

The mid-term review meeting is for a 3-year-long project called 5S-KAIZEN-TQM that was implemented in Fiji through the Japan International Corporation Agency and is being piloted at the CWM Hospital, Labasa Hospital, Sigatoka Hospital, Nausori Maternity & Health Centre, Valelevu Health Centre and the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services Centre.
