Headteacher and teacher of Nabau District School suspended for allegedly leaking Year 6 external exam papers

The headteacher of Nabau District School in Rakiraki and Year 6 teacher have been suspended by the Education Ministry for allegedly opening the packaging of the Year 6 external exam paper and revising it with the students.

It is alleged that the headteacher and the class teacher opened the packaging of the eternal exam papers one week before the exam began.

The headteacher and the Year 6 class teacher are also alleged to have answered the questions in the paper and asked all the year 6 students to cram the answers.

The papers which the class teacher is alleged to have been revising with the students are the mathematics paper, English essay question and some parts of the general subjects and the Itaukei paper.

Fijivillage has been informed that a teacher who was supervising the year 6 students saw the students revising the papers and reported the matter to the ministry.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar says those who have been implicated are suspended.

She says they will definitely take strict action against any breaches in examination policies.

Akbar has warned heads of schools to adhere to policies and rules within the Ministry so that exams are fair and transparent.

When asked if a police complaint has been filed, Akbar says they are in the initial stage of the investigation and as they move forward and come with concrete evidence, they definitely will.
