Hard work and dedication: Farmer supports family through market sales

Sixty-year-old farmer Saimoni Nabitunimavo sells his produce at the Suva Market every Thursday and Friday to support his family's daily needs.

Nabitunimavo says through farming, he has managed to build a house, buy a vehicle, run a canteen, and engage in cattle farming.

Nabitunimavo comes from the village of Serea in Naitasiri.

Nabitunimavo says he has been doing this for over twenty years and has loyal customers who always buy from him.

He also highlights that he pays people to help him on the farm.

He says he leaves the village at 2am and arrives in Suva around 4 as that is the best time to sell his produce to market vendors.

The 60-year-old sells cassava, dalo, lemons, and bananas.

Nabitunimavo’s advice to young people is to manage their time wisely and avoid drugs and other distractions that could take their focus away from a successful life.
