HK 7s: Fijiana to play Canada in first quarter final at 9.01 tonight

The Fiji Airways Fijiana side has clinched the last cup quarter final spot after defeating Great Britain 24-5 in their last pool game at the Hong Kong 7s.

They will play Canada at 9.01 tonight in the first cup quarter final.

Great Britain struck first with a try to Lauren Torley in the first minute.

Lavena Cavuru scored a double, with Ilisapeci Delaiwau and Adi Mereani Rogosau also contributing a try each.

Fijiana led 19-5 at half time.

From then on, it all went Fijiana’s way as they displayed brilliant defence to close out the game.

Going into the cup quarters, Fijiana need to work on their lineouts, as they gave away two throws to Great Britain.

The Fijiana earlier won their first pool game against Ireland 24-17, before losing 14-24 to France.

In earlier games, France beat Ireland 17-12, the USA defeated China 24-10, New Zealand thumped Brazil 29-7.

In the second cup quarter final New Zealand will play Brazil at 9.26 tonight, Australia meet the USA at 11.01pm, France to face Japan at 11.24pm.

The cup semi finals will start at 6.14pm tomorrow and the cup final will kick off at 11.10pm tomorrow.
