An 82‑year‑old man who was convicted of raping two of his granddaughters who were 8 and 11‑years‑old, has been sentenced to 10 years and 10 months imprisonment by the Suva High Court.
While sentencing the man, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe said the man had denied the girls the opportunity of a natural growth.
The incidents occurred between 3rd of December 2016 and 26th March 2017 in a settlement in Tailevu.
A non-parole period of 5 years and 10 months has been set due to his age.
