A 65-year-old man convicted of three counts of rape and one count of indecent assault has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment by Suva High Court Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.
The man had raped his 17-year-old granddaughter between 1st April and 31 August 2013 on Gau Island.
The court heard that the accused had confessed to a church pastor that he had raped his granddaughter as he had not had sex with his wife for six to eight months.
A non-parole period of seven years and four months has been set.
