Govt vehicle driver allegedly caught with smoking apparatus released on bail

A 38-year-old government vehicle driver who allegedly failed to stop at a checkpoint in Martintar during curfew hours on the 30th of last month and was later arrested at a hotel in Nadi has been released on bail.

Rajneel Kumar of Sakoca, Tamavua who was also allegedly found with smoking apparatus in the hotel room has been charged with a count each of unlawful possession of controlled equipment, failure to comply orders, failure to obey traffic direction and dangerous driving.

Magistrate, Peni Dalituicama has imposed a curfew on Kumar which will be from 5pm to 6am.

Kumar has also been ordered to surrender all travel documents.

He will take his plea on the 21st of next month.

It has been established that Kumar was driving the official vehicle of Minister for Local Government when he failed to stop at the checkpoint.
