The Fiji Government is now processing the applications received for the setting up of the country’s first ever casino.
However Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that they are looking for people with a proven track record in running successful casinos with other facilities like hotels and convention centers.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the attraction of a casino will definitely bring in more tourists but the proper evaluation process is currently underway.
Sayed-Khaiyum said one of the conditions for the new casino operator is to have an international standard convention facility.
There is no timeframe set on when the final decision will be made on the casino operation.
