The interim government and the military are not ruling through fear.
Those are the words of Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama after comments made by Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase in Australia that there is an ever present threat of the use of force against those who are opposed to what is happening.
Bainimarama said no one is being taken to task for speaking out and everyone has the freedom of expression as displayed by the comments that are being made in the media.
Qarase told supporters at a Brisbane primary school hall during SDL's fundraising dinner on Saturday night that he was warned by anonymous callers that he would be killed or thrown into jail.
Qarase also said that his life remains under threat from the military led interim government.
However, Bainimarama said Qarase is misleading the people in Australia to raise funds for SDL as no one is threatening him.
He goes on to say that maybe Qarase is afraid after the dispute involving the Tui Kubuca title which he now holds.
Methodist Church of Fiji officials are in a meeting and are expected to comment later.
