Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate says draftsmen who draw plans for buildings and work with architects are only registered with their own association and there is no legislative backing on what they do.
Usamate says they are currently working on the review of the Architects Bill and the Registrations Bill in collaboration with the Solicitor General’s Office to look at how draftsmen can be formally registered.
He says they have met with the members of the Fiji Building Designers Association and are looking at possible policies to regulate them.
