With 51 percent of the Tourism Industry located within the province of Ba, government is encouraging landowners to become shareholders in their businesses especially in hotel development projects.
Attorney General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum stressed this while addressing the Ba Provincial Council members, earlier this week.
Sayed-Khaiyum said landowners should view their land as an asset, and should use it as an opportunity to earn an income.
He added that it was a question of building that confidence and having a stake in the business that landowners should go for something that is actually viable.
The Minister said that the Tourism Ministry could assist the Ba Provincial Council if it wished to assess the viability of any proposal it was presented with.
