The government is confident that the Free Bus Fare Program for students will start tomorrow as scheduled without any problems.
Speaking to Fijivillage, permanent secretary at the Prime Minister's office Lieutenant Colonel Pio Tikoduadua said the Education Ministry has been working throughout the weekend to ensure that the school rolls of students who travel by school bus are made available.
Tikoduadua said the process will only be made difficult if students who travel to school by bus fail to attend school today.
Tikoduadua added government has set aside an amount of money for the program.
Minister Filipe Bole said this Free Bus Fare Program will only apply to students who travel by bus to school, and this includes both school buses and those students who have to travel by normal bus due to the unavailability of school buses from their localities adding, however, they must be in school uniform.
Bole said absenteeism would now have to be closely monitored by schools.
The Free Bus Fare Program will be implemented tomorrow.
