The Attorney General said the government assumes at this stage that the Fiji Times is happy with the change in the foreign and local ownership of media companies in Fiji which is stated in the draft Media Decree.
In an earlier press conference, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has said that the proposal to have 90 percent local ownership in all media companies still stands.
Sayed-Khaiyum said there is a clear reason behind the decision, and the government has not decided to change that at this stage.
Sayed-Khaiyum also said people should stop harping on about the lack of time for consultations on the draft Media Decree.
He said this is not the case and people who genuinely want a change can contact the Ministry.
Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed that there is no timeline set for the implementation of the Media Decree.
