The government is working towards acquiring ear and nose specialists for every divisional health facility in the country.
This was highlighted by Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum during the 2017‑2018 Budget Public Consultation at Sila Central High School in Nausori.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says at present people have to travel far to get these services.
He adds that the government is trying to recruit qualified people to do open heart surgeries so that local surgeons are also trained in the field because Fiji currently does not have any open heart surgeons.
