Government has saved $22 million in the first four months of 2011.
PSC Chairman, Josefa Seruilagilagi said this has been made possible through control measures put in by PSC, through freeze on appointments, restrictions on acting and temporary appointments and reduction of appointments for new project positions.

The measures also include stringent controls in use of vehicles and payment of various types of allowances.

Serulagilagi confirmed the commission will continue to pursue civil service reform programs in order to right size the Public Service.
