Gospel High School reaches new milestone to book spot in U16 Deans Final

Gospel High School reaches new milestone to book spot in U16 Deans Final

Gospel High School is making history this week as they prepare to compete in the Vodafone Super Deans rugby final, a first-ever for the Dhanji Street based school.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, proud old scholar, Viliame Leqa shared the excitement surrounding the occasion.

Leqa says this is a completely new platform for them, and they have never reached this stage before.

He says to be in the final this week is a huge step for the school, the parents, and the entire Gospel High School alumni community.

A former TV news presenter, Leqa emphasized that the Gospel fraternity is united and working toward a long-term vision of securing the 2027 Super Deans title.

He acknowledged that Gospel will be entering the final as underdogs — but sees it as an opportunity as everyone loves a good underdog story.

Based in Nadi, Leqa is calling on all old scholars, parents, and students to rally behind the team and show their support by wearing pink this week.

Gospel will face Suva Grammar School in the Deans U16 grade final.

Looking at the other Deans finals this Saturday, QVS will take on Grammar in the U14 grade, MGM High will meet Grammar in the U15 grade, Lelean will meet RKS in the U17 grade, Tailevu North College will play Nasinu Secondary in the U19 final, and Nasinu will face RKS in the U18 grade.

In the Weet-Bix Raluve finals, Sigatoka Methodist College will take on Ratu Latianara College in the U16 grade and Jasper Williams High School will meet Natabua High School in the U18 grade.

The finals will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium this Saturday.

You can catch the live commentaries on our sister station VITIFM for the U18 Raluve final between Natabua and Jasper, and the U18 Deans final between RKS and Nasinu Secondary.
