Gas price to drop while fuel prices will vary

Good news for people who own gas stoves as the price of gas will decrease by 3% from tomorrow.

Commerce Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy said that the new price for a 4.5Kg gas cylinder will now cost $17.19 which was $17.76 while a 12kg gas cylinder will now cost $45.84 which was $47.36.

Dr. Reddy said the new bulk gas price will be $3.07 compared to $3.16 while Autogas will reduce by two per cent from $2.21 to $2.16.

The LPG gas price for all four categories is going down by 3% which will also come into effect on Monday.

Also, the Commerce Commission Chairman announced that the new diesel price will be $2.29 which will decrease by two cents with the old price being $2.31, the new price of motor sprits will be $2.58 litre which is an increase by 5c, the new price of premix is 2.54 litre which goes up by 7c while kerosene price remains the same.

All fuel prices will come into effect from tomorrow.

Dr. Reddy added it’s also good news for construction sector as the price of steel has been reduced by 3.1% from the 1st of next month in the 300 and 500 grades respectively.
