The former proposed candidate of the National Federation Party who is charged with one count rape has been further remanded by Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.
Defence lawyer Devanesh Sharma informed the court that the man has allegedly faced police brutality in custody.
He adds that according to medical reports the man has sustained fractures to the left side of his body.
Justice Goundar said that he wants to see the medical report.
It is alleged that the the 66-year-old man raped his 53-year-old sister in law in Nasinu last month.
The matter has been adjourned to the 30th of this month for bail hearing.
