Former MBHS principal gets suspended sentence

Former Marist Brothers High School Principal, Susau Managreve has been handed down a 2 year suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to 51 counts of various offences.

Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili handed down the ruling this morning.

Managreve pleaded guilty to 17 counts of larceny, 17 counts of uttering and 17 counts of obtaining money from Marist Brothers High School.

Managreve committed the offences from 2006 to 2009.

In that period he had access to the MBHS Sports Centre bank account.

On each of the 17 occasions, he unlawfully took a cheque leaf for the bank account and wrote a sum to be withdrawn and then unlawfully used the money for personal benefit.

The total amount of money involved was $19,000 which Managreve has paid back.

Chief Magistrate Ratuvili said the mitigating factors that favour Managreve include his status as a first offender, his early guilty plea and the full restitution made meaning that the school has not lost money as a result of his actions.
