Former Fiji worker flees country after alleged misuse of union funds
A former worker of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions or FICTU has fled the country after allegedly misappropriating a large amount of money.

According to the minutes of the FICTU Delegates Conference in 2008 which was presented in the last conference in December last year, the then FICTU Treasurer, Kenneth Zinck introduced the union's financial report and invited the auditor to speak on the report.

The auditor explained about the misappropriation of funds and said that a large amount of money was missing.

The financial report was later adopted.

Fijivillage contacted FICTU General Secretary, Attar Singh today and asked him about the incident.

Singh said the matter was reported to the Police however the prosecution process could not go ahead because the employee fled the country.
