The Fiji Labour Party (FLP) Leader Mahendra Chauhdry has stressed that the interim government should consider our foreign debt level and have a clear indication on the loan conditions from China before agreeing to borrow $240 million from China.
Chaudhry said all the matters need to be properly assessed and there can never be quick fixes as the money borrowed will definitely have to be paid off.
The former interim Finance Minister also said that the proposed housing and infrastructure projects need to be properly scrutinized.
There is no confirmation at this stage on when the Fiji government will borrow the $240 million from its Chinese counterparts.
