Parts of the Kings Highway and greater Suva area are currently flooded as heavy rain continues in the Suva area.

Affected areas include the Nabua roundabout, in front of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, and Vesida along 4 Miles.

Traffic is being diverted to Wainivula Road

Renwick Road, behind MHCC and Greig Street in front of Newworld IGA in Suva City is also flooded.

According to Fiji Roads Authority, other affected areas include Daniva roundabout, Nasole junction, Foster Road near Amra junction, Cunningham Road, Omkar junction to Nasinu junction and Jerusalem Road – near Mobil Service Station.

They say Vidal Ave and Fletcher Road are only accessible to 4x4 vehicles.

FRA is also attending to a fallen tree along Grantham Road.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the eastern half of Viti Levu, including Navua to Suva to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Serua, Namosi, the Northern Division, the Yasawa group, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure is lying over the eastern parts of the country and is expected to gradually intensify tomorrow.

Possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone and low-lying areas, informal settlements, businesses, and Irish Crossings, which may disrupt traffic.

The weather office warns of surface flooding in urban areas with poor drainage, wet roads, and reduced visibility during downpours, which could increase the risk of road accidents.
