Flood warning issued for Nadi
A flood warning has been issued for Nadi.

The critical level for the Nadi River is 5 metres.

The level near Votualevu has risen to 6.5 metres in the last hour while the Nadi bridge water level is just over 4 metres.

Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said the high tide was at 5.30am but the river levels continue to rise.


Waqaicelua said they are also monitoring the situation in other parts of the Western division.


Nadi received the highest amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours which was 157 millimeters.

Lautoka recorded 149.5 millimeters, Penang 137.5mm, Labasa had 64.2mm, Suva recorded 32.4mm while Nausori had 13.2mm of rain. 

The next high tide will be at 5.30pm today.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of the Fiji group. 

This may lead to flash flooding in a number of areas.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all land areas of Fiji and Rotuma.

An active trough of low pressure remains over Fiji. 

Meanwhile another trough of low pressure to the west of Fiji is gradually moving towards the group.

Associated rain and strong winds are expected to affect the group till tomorrow.

Strong north-westerly winds is expected with average speeds of 45 to 55km/hr and momentary gusts to 90km/hr. 

Rain is expected to start easing and clearing from the west from tomorrow night. 

Seas are expected to be rough to very rough.
