Flood alert for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to and downstream of the Waimanu River

The Weather Office has issued a flood alert for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to and downstream of the Waimanu River as a trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the country.

The Nadi Weather Office says people can also expect rain, heavy at times in the Eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu which includes Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Navua and Pacific Harbour, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Ovalau, Vanuabalavu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.


Heavy rain can cause flash flooding of low lying areas.

Meanwhile, Queens Road at Naboutini Village is now open for single-lane traffic as it was closed to all traffic due to severe flooding last night.
