Flash flood warning remains

Flash flood warning remains
A flash flood warning remains in place for Suva, Navua, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti.

The Nadi Weather Office said the warning is in place due to the tropical disturbance over Fiji which is slowly moving Southeast.

A strong wind warning is in force for the land areas of the Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Tropical Cyclone forecaster Amit Singh said periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms are expected over these places.

According to Singh, there is a very low chance of this system to further develop into a tropical depression or a cyclone.

He said the system may develop further as it moves away from Fiji.

The current weather condition is expected to ease from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Consort Shipping has cancelled its service to Koro this afternoon due to the weather condition.

However, the Spirit of Fiji Islands will sail to Savusavu and Taveuni as scheduled.

Pacific Sun flights from Suva and Nadi to Cicia, Taveuni, Kadavu and Savusavu were cancelled today due to adverse weather conditions in the North, Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti.

Passengers will be accommodated on later flights to the affected areas once the weather permits.
