Flash flood alert in force for Eastern Viti Levu and Vanua Levu

A flash flood alert is now in force for all low lying and flash flood prone areas of the Eastern half of Viti Levu including Sigatoka through Suva, Nausori upto Tavua and Vanua Levu.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the Eastern half of Viti Levu including Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri and Ra, the Northern Division, the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the group.

They say associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the country until later tomorrow.

This could lead to flash flooding in some low-lying informal communities and Irish Crossings.

They say there is a possibility of wet roads and reduced visibility.
