Flash flood alert Western half of Viti Levu and heavy rain alert for the Eastern half

A flash flood alert is now in force for all low lying and flash flood prones areas for Western half of Viti Levu including Korolevu, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba up to Rakiraki, interior of Serua-Namosi, interior of Nadroga Navosa, interior of Ba/Ra and Naitasiri, Bua, Western Macuata and Western Cakaudrove provinces.

A heavy rain alert is also in force for Eastern half of Viti Levu from Serua/Namosi through Navua to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri and Ra, Cakaudrove and Southern Bua, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a moist Northeasterly wind flow prevails over Fiji while a trough of low pressure approaches the country from the Southwest.

They say severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rain that may lead to flash flooding in the warning areas over the next several hours.
