First ever casino to be one of the largest earners for the country
Fiji's first ever casino will be one of the biggest revenue earners for the country.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama made the comments while officiating at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the casino and convention centre at Denarau yesterday.

A project launched in collaboration with One Hundred Sands limited, the casino and convention centre will create 900 jobs for completion of construction, and 700 more jobs once the casino, convention centre, and hotel are completed.

Commodore Bainimarama said the $290 million dollar investment will diversify Fiji's tourism industry.

He said Denarau Island will now have the capacity to host large conventions and events, welcoming a more dynamic range of entertainment and activity.

The opening ceremony is expected to be held on the 1st of October next year.

Meanwhile, One Hundred Sands Limited Chairperson Larry Claunch presented a $100,000 cheque to the Prime Minister for the flood victims.
