Fires leave 10 homeless
The National Fire Authority is investigating two separate cases of fires which have left 10 people homeless.

A fire at Korotale Settlement in Rakiraki on Christmas Day destroyed a seven bedroom house leaving seven people homeless.

NFA Rakiraki received a fire emergency call and upon arriving at the scene the fire crew saw the house well engulfed.  

The house was located 20km from the Rakiraki Fire Station.

The corrugated iron and timber house was completely destroyed in a fire.

No one was at home at the time of the incident.

The total value of the house together with the household contents was estimated at around $40,000.

In another incident, a family of Tauvegavega, Ba, is homeless after their three bedroom house was destroyed by a fire last night leaving a family of three homeless.

The house was located 6km from the Ba Fire Station.

The total value of the house was estimated at $8,000.

NFA investigations are underway to determine the cause of both fire incidents.
