Fire destroys dormitory at Dilkusha Girls Home
It will be a sad Christmas for the girls at Dilkusha Girls home as a fire last night destroyed one of the dormitories belonging to the Girls Home.

It was a sad sight as the girls all ran out from their Dining Hall to watch as the firefighters fought to put the fire out. Fijivillage visited the scene last night however the school management was too distraught to reveal any details. It was heartbreaking to see the older girls pulling out mattresses and bags to save their belongings.

It is believed that the fire started in the one of the bedrooms and destroyed a number of beds but thanks to the quick action from the firefighters, the fire was contained and did not spread to the other rooms.

Luckily no one was hurt in the incident as the girls were all at the dining hall having their dinner.

Passersby’s noticed the fire, and then informed those at the school, after which the National Fire Authority was notified.

The National Fire Authority and the Police are working together to investigate the cause of the fire.
