Fijians should look out for each other especially with the sufferings brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and recent flooding.

This is the message from Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Vice President, Pundit Vigyaan Sharma as Hindus around the country are celebrating Maha Shivaratri, a festival celebrated annually in honour of the Lord Shiva.

It marks a remembrance of overcoming darkness and ignorance in life and the world and is observed by chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as honesty, non-injury to others, charity and forgiveness.

Sharma says there has always been hope during these difficult period.

He says it is everyone’s duty to see that people around us have the basic items like food.

Maha Shivaratri celebrations will finish on Tuesday.
