Fijian Teacher's Association wants a local PS for Education

The Fijian Teachers Association wants a local to be the next  Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

General Secretary, Paula Manumanunitoga says it has been difficult for the Association to work with the former Permanent Secretary for Education, Alison Burchell.

Burchell’s resignation came into effect yesterday.

The Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Vishnu Mohan says Burchell has expressed a desire to pursue other interests.

We have sent questions to the Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar and she is yet to comment on the issue.

The Permanent Secretary for Civil Service, Susan Kiran has been appointed as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts.
