FijiFirst candidate, Sachida Nand awarded vacant parliamentary seat after the resignation of Mereseini Vuniwaqa

FijiFirst candidate in the 2018 general elections Sachida Nand has been awarded the vacant parliamentary seat after the resignation of former Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Suresh Chandra says as per section 64(1) of the 2013 Constitution, Nand having secured 472 votes in the 2018 General Election is the highest ranked out of the candidates of the FijiFirst who did not get elected to Parliament but is still available to serve.
