If Vietnam stops exporting their rice, Fiji will face major issues in terms of food security.

This was stated by the Minister for Agriculture, Doctor Mahendra Reddy while handing over a tractor with two disc plough on behalf of the Ministry to the Korokoro Farmers Cluster in Baulevu.

The Minister thanked the cluster for raising one third of the deposit towards the $7,000 tractor.

Doctor Reddy says they will continue to provide machinery such as rice harvesters and tractors to help farmers with their subsistent farming.

He says the non-sugar exports have exceeded the sugar exports in 2020 and last year it reached $121 million.

The Minister also says in the 2022/2023 budget, $29.2 million has been allocated to help the Agriculture sector.
