Fiji wants travel sanctions scrapped - AG
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has made it clear that Fiji wants the Australian government to scrap its travel restrictions on Fijian government officials, which he said amount to “economic sabotage”.

After the meeting with the Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop, Sayed-Khaiyum told Pacific Beat that nothing less than the official removal of all travel sanctions is acceptable.

Sayed-Khaiyum also said some immediate steps need to be taken by Australia to ensure that Fiji is not listed as a Giant African Snail country.

Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the travel sanction policy is still under review.

New Zealand Foreign Minister, Murray McCully also said NZ will continue to relax the travel sanctions as progress is made towards elections.
