Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau will take 14 players from his extended squad to New Zealand this week to participate in the 2025 Ignite 7s tournament as part of their preparation for the HSBC SVNS Dubai 7s next month.

The tournament will have teams like New Zealand, Australia and Japan, and other NZ clubs.

Kolinisau says this will be a valuable opportunity for the new and young players to gain game-time experience against New Zealand and Australia.

He says he is proud that the new boys are not shy and are competing well alongside the senior players.

Kolinisau confirms that he will name his squad for the Dubai 7s a week after the team returns from the Ignite 7s, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, Fiji will head into the Dubai 7s tournament as the defending champions, having beaten Spain 19-5 in last year’s final.

This year’s competition format will have no quarterfinals, with only the top two teams from each pool advancing directly to the semifinals.

Fiji is pooled with South Africa, Argentina, and France.

The Dubai 7s will be held from November 29th to December 1st.
