Fiji to meet Blitzboks to decide Pool B winner of Wellington 7s

The clash between the Vodafone Fiji 7s team and the Blitzboks 7s will decide the winner of pool B after both teams won their first two pool games.

Both teams have qualified for the medal quarterfinals.

Fiji beat Australia 26-12 and thrashed Japan 56-0 while South Africa also defeated Australia 28-0 and Japan 33-0.

Fiji will play South Africa at 6.18 pm.

Earlier in the day Fiji had to fight hard to beat a young and determined Australian outfit 26-12 after trailing 12- 5 at half time. 

The team was told by coach Gareth Baber to improve in the tackling and make hard carries with the ball.

Fiji scored their tries through Joeli Lutumailagi, Osea Kolinisau and Alivereti Veitokani.

Against Japan it was all Fiji from the first whistle as the team steam rolled their way to score 8 converted tries and win the game 56-0.

Fiji’s tries were scored by Osea Kolinisau, Kalione Nasoko, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Jerry Tuwai, Amenoni Nasilasila, Samisoni Viriviri, Vatemo Ravouvou and Joeli Lutumailagi.      

Meanwhile, Nemani Nagusa has been suspended for 6 matches after being found guilty of contact with the eyes of an opponent and he will miss the rest of the tournament.

In other results, England beat PNG 40-0 and Argentina 26-7, Kenya beat PNG 47-5, New Zealand defeated Samoa 33-5, and they beat France 21-14.

The medal quarterfinals will begin at 11.38am tomorrow while the semifinals will begin at 4.16pm.

The medal final will be held at 7.30 tomorrow night.
